Description

Summary/objective

To support efficient coordination of operations and maintenance of the water and wastewater systems. Maintain accurate documentation, while working effectively and efficiently, resulting in high morale and productivity.

Essential functions

  • Receives and responds to customer inquiries, complaints, or concerns regarding system operational conditions.
  • Receives and appropriately processes utility locate requests from KY811 Before You Dig system.
  • Monitors SCADA system. Dispatches appropriate personnel to investigate and respond when anomalies are identified.
  • Assists in the coordination of unscheduled and emergency work with group supervisors and other outside personnel. Receives real-time updates and assists in the resolution of issues that may arise. Assists in appropriate allocation of resources.
  • Acts as communication liaison with field personnel during emergencies.
  • In coordination with supervisors, uses Cityworks CMMS and other systems to ensure efficient dispatch and completion of service requests/work orders. Initiates service requests and work orders as needed.
  • Prepares and submits all required reports.
  • Keeps general manager advised of any informalities internal or external along with any overall personnel and customer problems or other needs within the organization.
  • Keeps familiar with Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) reporting on hazardous and toxic chemicals, found or used in the work area.
  • Works according to safety standards and polices adopted by Warren County Water District, is responsible for his or her own safety, and reports all incidents to his or her supervisor.
  • Complies with all local traffic laws, regulations, and safe practices while operating any company vehicle.
  • Must be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon employment.

 

Competencies

  • Must be willing and able to quickly develop a working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water/wastewater systems.
  • Must have knowledge of various computer systems including but not limited to SCADA, Asset Management, CMMS, GIS, AVL, Microsoft 365, etc.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to triage issues and prioritize corrective actions.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, contractors, and the public.
  • Apply confidentiality to all areas of sensitive employee and customer information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under stress and remain calm during rapidly changing circumstances.

Reporting relationships

  • Reports to: Operations Center Supervisor

Work environment

  • Must be able to work a forty-hour week plus any extra time the position may demand, especially during emergency conditions. Some outside work may be required including training and coordination.

Physical demands

Lifting up to 15 pounds may be required.

Travel required

Some travel in and around the system may be required. Must be willing to attend courses related to work.

Education and experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

Additional eligibility requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon employment.
